PARALLEL PROGRESSION ZINE - EVALUATION

This was a very enjoyable brief to work on with Sam as a photographer I thought that I might just be left to all of the work and suggest ideas etc. but Sam was very good at knowing what he wants from a design point of view. We worked very well together as the whole way through the project with no communication issues and I feel that this is reflected in the final outcome as I don't think that there is any way that we would have got to this point without his creative input. The finished design is a lot better than I had first anticipated, at the start of the project I felt slightly overwhelmed as I was unsure about the overall concept of the images but once Sam was able to talk me through it a few times I got a better understanding of what he was after and we were able to come up with a final outcome that we are both happy to put our names on.

Due to the timing of this brief, a lot of my attention has been on my own COP project which I think hasn't let the zine meet its full potential - I found the points that Sam was making within his essay to be very interesting and would have liked more time to make the zine into more of book as I feel that it would benefit from having more images and also the essay to help the reader understand the concept of the photographs better. When we both have more time I would like to work on this zine again but this time include Rob and make it a better WYS project as this is just scratching the surface of what we could do.

This has started a good working relationship between myself and Sam and we both have many ideas for other books in the future now that we have made this one and worked so well together on this one. Overall I am happy with the final outcome as I feel that it helps to make Sam's body of work more purposeful rather than them just being printed as prints the images themselves needed to be displayed in book format so they can be seen at their full potential.
