Studio Brief 02 - Product, Range & Distribution - Idea Prototypes

I found coming up with a range of ideas allowed me to think about what would be the most appropriate idea for the brief, of course there was more than one idea that would work so I am going to explore those ideas in further depth, this will allow me to pick the best idea. 

Idea 01 - Water bottle design (Belu Water) 

In my research I discovered Belu a mineral water company that is a forward thinking and environmental water brand that gives 100% of their profits to Water Aid. They have a very strong brand with bold packaging with a strong exciting target audience, the idea would be to come up with a design for a bottle that would help to bring awareness to overuse of water. The bottle would be reusable which has two benefits, firstly every time they use the bottle they will be reminded of how they are using water at home etc, secondly it is eco friendly because they won't be throwing away the bottle, this links well with the ethics of Belu as everything they do is 100% recyclable. The branding of the Belu bottle will allow me to experiment with mostly type based response which is something that I feel will be be very effective. 

Idea 02 - Fundraising event

Charity: Water have a scheme that allows people to crowd-fund charity events, I could use this scheme to host an event in Leeds. The event would be targeting the student night life scene, the idea would be to have a day event with DJs, live music, food and stands that are giving away free water, merchandise and information about the water crisis. This would help to raise awareness of the water crisis as it is an environment where people are enjoying themselves which helps to get the message across to people. The advertising for the event would feature artwork that relates to the theme of the event. All proceeds for the event would then be donated to Charity: Water. 

Idea 03 - Poster series

An informative poster series, designed to appeal to a young creative audience it would help to give these people an idea of what they can do to help save water as it won't be done in a way like most other posters have been done in the past which put across a very negative toe of voice. The poster series would be incorporation with a charity (like Water Aid) as this would be the best way to distribute the posters for a lot of people to see/buy them. The series also benefits developed countries as it brings the awareness needed, it will also help to bring more donations/money to the developing countries which need the support from the donations. 

Idea 04 - Poster Zine 

Inspired by People of Print poster zines, the idea of the poster zine is that you get the best of both worlds; you are able to give someone something that they can keep (stuck on a wall) which will help to remind them of the overuse of water, as well as having the information needed to make the target audience more aware of what the water crisis is and how it will have an effect on everyone if the issues are not addressed sooner rather than later. The poster would be given our free of charge by a charity as well as being available in creative spaces such as universities, bars, shops etc.
