To conclude on the Leeds public spaces brief, I have been able to produce an outcome that I am proud of and I am pleased that I chosen the event that I found. I thought the research side of this brief allowed me to think a lot about how I wanted to approach the brief, I am pleased that I looked into the Sex Pistols first ever gig in Leeds. Looking into the punk era has taught me a lot about how that era has effected many people and that it has helped to shape what we know as graphic design today. The research for this brief helped me to learn about how punk style should and shouldn't be used and how it can be done.
My main focus of this project was to mainly look at how I use typography and how I can communicate my idea across by using typography. I feel that I have achieved this goal as I had to experiment with many different styles of typefaces and use them in very unconventional way, but I found it interesting to see how the type doesn't need to follow rules. This is were my research really helped my ideas stage as I was able to look at all the different styles that revolve around punk.
I found this brief a very enjoyable process as I was able to do things like create my own textures which helped give a more unique feel to the print as I found have used stock textures and typefaces but I found it more interesting to manipulate what I already had as this is what they would have to do in the punk times. However I am annoyed that I made a misprint as I would have liked not to print it again as I was very pleased with how the screen printing yet and I feel that it was my best attempt at screen printing even though it was only one layer. I could have possibly improved my prints by making the design more complicated included halftone imagery etc but I did not want to over complicate the nature of the design as it was clear what I was celebrating from the design.
