Having already established the WYS identity through the logo, myself and Rob have a good idea of what we want the overall identity to look like. The visual research I have shown are some reference points that I will be using throughout creating the identity. It explores a range of contemporary printed media including business cards, posters/artwork, t-shirts and books that have been used to help inform the WYS identity.
BUSINESS CARDS
I have looked at a range of business cards (most of which are designers and creatives) all are minimal in there appearance, however, they all have something which helps to define who it is for. For example, the THIS WAY UP card plays on phrase making it more engaging and more likely to provoke action from the person that you're giving it to.
As the branding is going to be very minimal (black and white) in its overall style I want to have fine details that will make help make the black and white more exciting for example playful type or embossing as well as using high-quality stock to help represent that we are about quality print.
Over the course of the project, I have become more influenced by a lot of the design work that I have been looking at. Becoming more influenced by what I have been researching has meant that I have been inclined to get my hands on books and other printed matter to get a proper feel for the quality, how things are produced (printing methods - RISO) and this has meant that I am constantly being surrounded by inspiration from the likes of Kiosk, Catalogue and other publishers.
