Studio Brief 02 - Product, Range & Distribution - Idea Generation

After researching into the water crisis it gave me a good idea of what has been done to address the problem on a global scale. But I found it more difficult to find out what has been done in my local area to bring awareness to the issue and what people can do to prevent the largest part of the issue which is overuse of water. As I highlighted in both my brief and research the awareness of the issue and the impact it could potentially have is very little, not many people especially students don't realise the severity of the issue. The ideas that I have come up with are to try and target this audience and make them understand/learn what they can do to help stop overuse of water, and the positive effects it would have on the situation.

What is the problem?
  • Young people are unaware of how serious the issue is
  • Unsure of what can be done to prevent overuse of water
  • Nothing overly engaging for a young audience
Solutions/Ideas
  • Poster series - informative with facts to help teach people
  • Publication - with a charity showing people the reality of the issue for both undeveloped and developed countries (Charity: Water or Water Aid)
  • Water bottle (Limited Edition) - design a reusable bottle that will make people think (Belu Water)
  • App/website - track your household use of water to get rewards (Yorkshire Water)
  • Poster zine - informing and inspiring
  • Save water kit - A free/donation that supplies small gadgets that helps save water as well as stickers to remind people of how to save water in their home.
  • Save water protest - banners, posters etc to bring more awareness to the issue
  • Social media campaign - Profile picture add on, cover photo to show support, GIFs, infographics, and animations this will encourage people to share to get the message out there.
  • Fundraising event - Create an event that young people would want to go to, but the profits go to charity (posters and event advertising helps to raise awareness)
