Studio Brief 01 - Responsive - Met Office - Brief

For the substantial part of this module I have chosen to undertake the Met Office brief, I feel that I will be able to use my style of graphic design to help bring the Met Office to a wider online audience. Looking through the brief I was able to get a better understanding of what YCN and The met Office are looking for, as the brief is fairly vague it gives me a lot of creative control but there are some guidelines and certain specifications that I need to make sure that I am looking at to have a good chance of getting selected.

The Brief -

Notes -

- Worlds leading weather and climate service
- Forefront (UK's national weather)
- "Weather story" updates daily, weekly, monthly
- Weekend weather, recent extreme conditions, forecast for upcoming events
- "Evergreen" content, 'Why is the sky blue?' or 'Blocking weather patterns'
- Looking back at past events, e.g Glastonbury weather
- Content for everyone
- Infographics about rainfall. Animations about wind/temp/rare cloud types
- Explain how weather works or communicate latest forecast
- Should work on multiple devices
- New social media (snapchat)
- Creative process
- Target audience is everyone
- How do people consume information?
- Informative, accurate and clear

Initial Thoughts -

After reading through the brief in detail and making some notes it was much easier to understand what the client is looking for with this brief. I will be looking at making some content that will appeal to a large target audience and will make people more interested in the weather because I will use different methods of communication to engage with the audience. By reading through the brief I have been able to highlight key areas that I will help me figure out what content I will be looking to create and what will be the most relevant for the audience.
