Produce a book made up of a set of 10 double page layouts.
The page content that should be informed by a personal interest but should, in turn, demonstrate a growing understanding of the fundamental principles of grid, layout, type and format plus the form, function and construction of books: all of which is introduced during studio sessions and workshops. These principles and techniques should then prove to be a useful starting point to develop a set series or sequence of page layouts that effectively communicates my chosen content.
Deliverables
A book containing a set, series or sequence of 10 double page layouts that effectively communicate my chosen content.
A minimum of five A3 design sheets/design boards that relate to both parts of the brief (Studio Brief 01 and Studio Brief 02).
A body of development work produced in response to set tasks documented on my studio development Blog. This should include evidence of thumbnails, test pieces and trial layouts produced during the development of the final resolution. The blog should also include evidence of further independent investigation into design principles of layout, type, image, composition and colour as briefed.
A 500-750 word end of module evaluation.
Response
I have a few main interests outside of design, most of them seem to intertwine, for example I love taking photos of people and outfits, my favourite style of photography right now is street style. I also love fashion too, so I feel like I could create publication that showcases my photography and also my ability to style someone.
I have also considered what has changed over the years within the area of fashion that I am interested in. An example of this now MASSIVE skateboarding brands Supreme and Palace are not worn for skateboards, a whole new culture and the clothes are now part of the ever growing streetwear culture which is heavily filed by online groups. I wanted to see how I could document this change, by using models wear said brand and put them where they should be, for example The North Face, originally a outdoor brand many younger people have taking a liking too this coats etc meaning that it is not being worn for the intended purpose.
