Studio Brief 01 - Responsive - PAPYRUS - Production

My researched helped me to understand what sort of approach I could taker to this brief, I noticed that most colouring books that are for adults are very interact and can seem very overwhelming. As this brief is aimed at minimising stress I wanted to think of something that would be simple but still had a very calm vibes. To achieve this goal I thought the best sort of idea would be either an abstract pattern that can give the user a lot of freedom when colouring or a collage of house plants that would let the user colour to their own style.

Abstract -

Coming up with different (original) pattern was more difficult that I first thought, as I wanted the pattern to be complex enough for it to be part of the adult colouring book but I felt that most of the ideas that I came up with were too simple and I wasn't getting the result that I was looking for when design a pattern of this style.

I also didn't think that the patterns related well enough to the brief, did not find any of the patterns calming if anything I found them a bit of an eye sore which is not what the brief is asking for.

Plants -

Taking more of an illustrative angle with this idea, I was able to design different leaves and plants that are very popular house plants that people associate with stress relief which is almost perfect for this brief. I was undecided about how many plants I should include so I designed a few different styles to get an idea of how may I could have on a page. After playing around with different styles I though it would be best to take a mixture of all of the different plants that I had made to put them together as one design. As it is only outlines I am hoping that the user will then take it upon themselves to colour as detailed or abstracts as they want.
