Study Task 02 - Colour Relativity

Colour Relativity

This study task we had to complete to increase my understanding of colour theory, the task given too us was to choose our least favourite colour. In my case I don't like using the colour red, I find that It is too bright and in your face for many things. Following this we were asked to use the Pantone reference guides to help us choose another colour alongside black that would compliment the 'least favourite' colour. These colours would then need to work for the colours in a children's book.

The theory behind my colours, the pantone colour 57-4C was a tone of a bright red, this is because I did not feel that that bright red would work when it came to children's book because most people would associate this deep red as a warning sign etc. So when looking at the reference books I decided that a tone of the red would better suit the style.

I when started too look at what colour I could use to compliment the first colour, knowing that green is complimentary colour of red from the colour wheel. I decided that using a similar tone of green would deem the best for this, as I feel that they work very well together. The two colours together then seem to work in my eyes, specially ad a child book as both colours aren't too harsh on the eye and they are still fun colours that would excite a young child.
